HIV workshop for police officers

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, March 26 — The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Security, will conduct a two-day workshop today — Tuesday — and Wednesday, for a cross section of officers of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, to address HIV prevention, care, treatment and support.

The workshop will be held at the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 8:30 a.m. daily.

Permanent Secretary Luis de Shong says participants will learn about HIV information and presentation techniques in a bid to eventually be able to educate their colleagues.

The topics to be covered include HIV myths and misconceptions; HIV transmission, prevention and treatment; counselling and testing; stigma and discrimination and sexually transmitted infections.

The facilitators will be Dr. José Davy, Donna Francis, La Fayette Johnson-James, Samuel Joyles, Patrick Prescod, and Winfield Tannis.
